Domains, Servers, and More

Tools I thought I would take some time to write about all the different tools I use during my crazy entrepreneurial experiments. Let's just say that over the years of me experimenting with web dev, game dev, Linux, Bitcoin, system building and more I have tried a lot of different things. Domains WAY back when I first used Yahoo hosting for my domains, this was well before Google was really big and they didn't even offer the service. Then Godaddy.com and Network Solutions became a thing so I moved onto those. These days, however, I stick with namecheap.com you just can't go wrong the prices. A Namecheap domain is usually around $10 with privacy included and there is almost always a coupon to be found. You can also get a single email address for $9.99 a YEAR. Meanwhile, Godaddy.com is charging $11.99 for the domain, $7.99 for the privacy and $2.99 per month for just email. I typically like to start with 1-year domains unless I am sure to keep them for awhile and 1 year of email since it just makes everything so much cleaner to have a *@domain.com. Namecheap also makes it easy to add a catch-all email so you can promote different names ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected]) and still receive it to the one account. Servers Let's start with the bare bones of my transition from free (terrible) hosting to shared and now onto VPS. We have all been there with the FREE hosting when you first start out you really don't want to invest too much…

Reviewing games, what could go wrong?

Myself and my good friend Noisefloor have many times talked about creating a gaming review site (as if there aren't enough already). It all started June of 2014, the first time I went to E3, it was a wonderful experience and we spent almost every day we could at the convention center. However our biggest gripe was that all the press wear able skip the lines of all the games and I'm not talking like one or two here and there. Almost every time we got to the front of the line we would still have to wait and watch press group after press group show up for their "appointment" and make everyone else wait. At some point we both looked at each other and just agreed that someday we would be those assholes that get to skip everyone else. Enter lonedoggy Way back during the days of the original Planetside in 2003, we were playing with our clan and there was this guy named Lonedoggy. He was insane, and definitely one of the craziest people we have ever played a game with but it was also super fun. I believe he had an english accent as well which just added to his persona. Well that name always stuck with us and just made us laugh when ever we brought it up. After that first night of E3 we went back to his apartment in LA and were thinking of names for our new big review site and lonedoggy came…

What’s in a name or a logo for that matter

Yay blogging... Hello! I will start by saying I have never done a real blog before, I also don't think I am a very good writer so you may see many ramblings of who knows what! I have had this name fascination for maybe 15+ years to have a company name with 'Ninja' in it. Believe me I know what you're thinking... I actually don't own a sword or any nun-chucks or anything like that at all. I think at most I had a pair of cheap 'Ninja' shows from China Town in Chicago. Although I did have a bonsai tree at one time and plan to get one again when we stop traveling for work. My first company and I use that word lightly was Ninja Systems, a computer building company that when absolutely no where. I couldn't even get the domain name because it was taken and had to settle for YourNinja which I do still have today but don't use it for anything. I'll probably just have it link forward here just because. The birth of NinjaStries I have since moved on to NinjaStries which I have owned the domain name since 2012 but again I didn't do anything with it. I have since used it as a umbrella corporation for all my little weird projects. I have tried to have people create a logo for it but they go so hung up on the Ninja part of it that everything came back cartoony or just Ninja-y.…
